Music

Most people, I believe, use visual images in recollecting memories.  Others are multi-sensory and combine visual memories with let’s say, taste.  These people are the foodies who remember what they were eating/preparing every time they recall a certain time in their life.  Me?  My memories are almost always accompanied by music.  When I think back to my wedding, the births of my children, vacations, and other important events, I remember the music that was playing in the background (literally, or figuratively in my head).  B and I met and bonded over music and continue to integrate it into our (and our children’s) lives on a daily basis.  Some of my favorite moments are Sunday mornings, having a dance party in the kitchen with B, C, and G while we make breakfast.

Here are some of the bands that have been consistent figures in my life:

Grateful Dead

Widespread Panic

Ben Harper

Jack Johnson

Stevie Wonder

Jason Isbell

Bob Marley

Burning Spear

Black Uhuru

Citizen Cope

Dave Matthews

Tom Petty
